I made a lot of progress on guitar #01 this weekend. View slideshow.
The main construction tasks included completing the peg head (lots of drilling, carving and sanding) and installing the bindings (routing, glueing and sanding).
The body and neck then got a a final sanding and detailing in preparation for finishing. I started the finishing this morning. Unilke the prototype, this guitar will be finished by french polishing. It takes a lot more time, but is simpler and less noxious.
After about 8 hours of finishing, I think I’m about half done with finish.
Remaining steps include carving the bridge, installed the frets, glueing the neck to the body and final set up.
Stay tuned.
