Guitar #1 is officially finished. I strung it up a couple of days ago and worked on the set up a bit today. All in all, I’m very pleased with the way it turned out.
It looks nice and sounds brighter and louder than the pine prototype.
Key improvements opportunities:
- Better job on the binding. Next time, I think I’ll pre-bend the binding before gluing it to the body.
- Neck angle. The alignment of the neck requires a bit of compensation to allow for the curve of the top. This time, I over-compensated, but now know how to get it closer next time.
- Finishing. This time, I French polished the guitar. It looks pretty good, but takes a lot of time. I haven’t decided yet, but may spray finish the next guitar.
Complete slideshow. (I’ll take some more pictures of the finished guitar as soon as it stop raining.)
Stay tuned for plans for my next guitar.
